Why keep a stash log?
Most crafters have yarn hidden in closets, baskets, and under beds. You might buy a lovely skein, then forget about it. A quick stash log helps you see what you already have before you shop. It also prevents buying too much of one color or weight.
Project planning tips
Set a realistic target date. If you only knit on weekends, a big blanket might take months. The progress slider is a rough guide, not a perfect measure. Update it when you finish a section or a certain number of rows.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting to update used yardage after a project.
- Mixing up yarn weights (worsted vs. DK).
- Not exporting a backup before clearing browser data.
Assumptions
Yardage totals are based on the full skein as purchased. If you wind a ball, the yardage stays the same. Used yardage is your estimate. No automatic tracking of actual stitches.

How do I add a new yarn?
Click the "Add yarn" button. A new row appears in the table. Type the yarn name, choose a weight from the dropdown, enter a color, total yardage, and used yardage. The remaining amount updates automatically.
Can I track multiple projects at once?
This version focuses on one active project at a time. You can export your data and keep separate files for different projects if needed. Future updates may support multiple projects.
What does the progress bar mean?
It shows the percentage of the project you have completed, based on your own estimate. Move the slider or use the plus/minus buttons. The bar and the text update instantly.
Why this exists
I built this tracker because I kept losing track of my yarn. I wanted a simple, private way to see my stash and my current project without signing up for another service. Everything runs in your browser. Your data never leaves your device. It is a small tool for a specific need, and I hope it helps you finish more projects.
